The RHA Collection of Fillers are FDA-approved hyaluronic acid designer fillers that can be used to add and restore volume at various areas across the face. The RHA fillers have been specifically designed to be more dynamic and resilient, to better conform to the movement of facial muscles and facial expressions. This helps with achieving more natural-looking results.
Adding volume to face using fillers is one of the pillars of anti-aging and rejuvenating treatments. This procedure is commonly likened to “sculpting” as your doctor skillfully uses various fillers to contour and sculpt your face for a more refreshed, well-defined and rejuvenated look. However, unlike sculptures, our face is never completely still and every day, we make several thousands of facial muscle movements and expressions using the small and large muscles of the face. Hence, for best results your doctors needs to consider your face in neutral expression as well as during various facial expressions when injecting dermal fillers. Striking a balance between the neutral look and dynamic expression is key to achieve more consistent and natural-looking results. While this is largely dependent on the skills and aesthetic eye of your doctor, the RHA Collection of Fillers can further help.
RHA stands of Resilient Hyaluronic Acid. The RHA Collection of fillers are hyaluronic acid fillers that are designed to closely mimic and seamlessly blend with the hyaluronic acid that is naturally present in our skin. These advanced hyaluronic acid fillers are better capable at adopting to various facial expressions and the underlying movement of facial muscles for more dynamic, consistent and natural results.
As we age, the amount of hyaluronic acid gel that is naturally present in our skin slowly diminishes. This, combined with repeated movement of facial muscles pulling on the skin occurring thousands of times a day will lead to emergence of wrinkles, creases and folds on the skin. Some of these lines and wrinkles appear (or get worse) when facial muscles contract and largely disappear when they relax. These lines are commonly treated with Botox and similar medications (Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau). Some other lines and folds are more stubborn and deeper and they remain even when the underlying muscles are relaxed. For these deep lines and folds, dermal fillers are often needed.
RHA fillers are great options to treat and smooth out these lines and folds. RHA Collection fillers contain hyaluronic acid which is naturally present in our skin. Hyaluronic acid retains water molecule, keeping the skin plump and hydrated. As an important component of extra-cellular matrix, hyaluronic acid provides structural support for the skin. As previously indicated, our skin loses its natural hyaluronic acid as we age, and restoring it with hyaluronic acid fillers is a great strategy to rejuvenate the skin.
RHA or Resilient Hyaluronic Acid fillers are unique in that they are more resilient and dynamic than other types of hyaluronic acid fillers. RHA fillers are produced using a more gentle process that preserves the natural shape and structure of the hyaluronic acid molecule to allow them to look more similar to the natural hyaluronic acid of your skin.
RHA fillers are designed to move and adapt as the muscles in face contract and move. This makes makes them ideal for treatment of lines and folds in areas of face that are highly dynamic, such as around the mouth, such as smile lines (laugh lines or nasolabial folds) and marionette lines. While some other fillers might be less dynamic (making the treated area appearing more stiff and less natural during facial expressions), RHA fillers adapt more naturally and seamlessly with the movement of facial muscles.
The RHA Collection of fillers are long-lasting fillers can last up to 15 months in wrinkles and folds and up to 1 year in lipstick lines (individual patient’s results may vary). The RHA family currently includes 4 types of fillers:
- RHA Redensity: A filler that is considered to be “weightless” and ideal for smoothing out the lipstick lines or smoker’s lines. Lipstick or smoker’s lines are lines and wrinkles that radiate away from the lips as we contract the lips (for example when kissing or using a straw).
- RHA 2 and RHA 3: These RHA fillers provide more refined and elegant smoothing for lines around the mouth to create softer and more natural looking results.
- RHA 4: More suitable for providing natural volume for deeper lines and folds.
