I understand fat transfer is very unpredictable and long-term patient satisfaction is low, however regular fillers are also costly. How king does Radiesse last in the hands? A surgeon told me in ten years not one patient had come back for a top up. I heard elsewhere it can last up to 7 years - is this possible?
Hi and thank you for your question! Radiesse is an excellent filler for hand rejuvenation and I commonly use it for this indication. Radiesse is a long-lasting filler so you can expected the results to last for 1-2 years or possibly more. However, whenever faced with this question, I explain to my patients that aging is an ongoing process. So even if a filler stays forever, the natural volume loss that occurs as we age is going to continue, and the doing more fillers from time to time is going to be needed. Think of it as a bathtub filled with water with the drain open. If we want to keep the water level stable and not going too low, we will need to add more water from time to time as we continue losing water from the drain. It's a similar concept for fillers and treatment of volume loss during aging. I hope it helps and good luck!
