I have a really square jawline and decide to have botox injection, and have consult several doctorsmall but they give me different dosage from 40 unit each side to 25 each side, can anyone give me some suggestions?and also worried about any side effects may happen Thanks in advance for anyone could give me a suggestion.
Hi and thank you for your question! I commonly perform jaw slimming procedures with Botox injection but the dose really depends on the bulk and tone of the muscle and it's very difficult if not impossible to tell just by looking at your picture without performing an examination. In some patients the bulkiness might not even be related to the muscle and it can be fat tissue, in which case Botox might not even be useful. If you are getting different numbers, you can either go with the suggestion of more experienced doctor, or start with the lower dose and if not satisfied with the first round, have the dose adjusted upward next time. The main issue with injecting too much Botox for jaw slimming is interference with the function of masseter muscles which are the main muscles we use to chew and hence there might be issues with eating and speaking. With Botox whenever in doubt, going lower is better than going higher. I hope it helps and good luck!
