Is there such a thing as late onset swelling after filler?

Cosmetic Treatments QuestionsCategory: BeloteroIs there such a thing as late onset swelling after filler?

I have a very small upper and less so lower lip. I had 2 syringes of Belotero. I had a tiny bit of an upper lip duck mouth, yet we only did the wet to dry technique. This settled down. That was July 1, 2017. Now, today, I suddenly have tenderness and swelling. Have you heard of this? What is the treatment this late? (The small blue discoloration is an old piece of lead in my lip, ingnor). Thanks

Late-onset Swelling after Filler

Hi and thank you for your question! There are reports of swelling occurring long time after filler injection (month to year) but they are quite rare. In your case, although filler *could* be a possibility for the swelling, it is not very likely and other causes (e.g. a mouth/gum abscess) are more likely. Regardless, an in-person evaluation by your physician is required. I hope it helps and good luck!
