Treatment for Smoker’s Lips?

Cosmetic Treatments QuestionsCategory: JuvedermTreatment for Smoker’s Lips?
A patient asked 25 years ago
I used to smoke and I have a lot of wrinkles on my upper lip from "pursing my lips." I don't necessarily need fuller lips (although that would be OK). My main concern is to be able to wear lipstick without having it "feather." A lot of lipsticks seem to go "upwards" toward my nose after application and I would like to be able to use the "lip stains." I made an appt to get Juvederm but I want to make sure I'm making the right decision!

Treatment for Smoker's Lines

Hi and thank you for your question! I primarily use Botox injection for treatment of smoker's lines (vertical lines that "radiate" away from lips) although smooth fillers can also be used to treat the vertical as well as horizontal lines around the mouth. These treatments will not add volume to lips if that's not something you want, so you should be ok. I hope it helps and good luck!
